Why do we need a deep foundation in the Bible?

I just found this post I drafted on June 3 and thought I would go ahead a post it……

Romans 12: 1-2

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

I have been struggling with my prayers lately.  I pray for mostly the same things everyday and was losing the passion I once had.  This verse was Sunday’s sermon at my church.  It gave me perspective on why I have been struggling with my prayers.  My prayer life has not had any growth because I am not reading God’s Word enough.  I am not consistent.  I have to have a deep foundation in the Bible.  I know having a deep foundation in the Bible seems pretty common sense to a Christian, but how many of us really study and read God’s Word on a daily basis?   Embarrassingly, I don’t read the Bible as much as I should.  Other than the daily verse of the day or at church, I maybe pick up the Bible once a month and read it for myself.  I am so disappointed in myself.  The answers have been right in front of me the whole time!
